The Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operations Training (BIPSOT) is a premier institution tasked with preparing peacekeepers for deployment in United Nations Peace Support Operations (UNPSO). To meet the high standards set by the UN Department of Peace Operations (UNDPKO), BIPSOT trains armed forces in line with the UN General Assembly resolution, which mandates comprehensive training before deployment.
To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its testing and assessment processes, BIPSOT sought an Online Test Center software. The aim was to move away from traditional paper-based testing and adopt a fully computerized system that offers secure, efficient, and flexible test administration.
The primary objective of the project was to develop a robust Computer-Based Test (CBT) system to:
Automate the test creation, administration, and scoring process.
Enhance test security through encryption and digital measures.
Improve consistency and reliability in test delivery and scoring.
Offer advanced features like immediate scoring, graphical result representation, and personalized feedback.
The Online Test Center software was designed with the following features:
Login Page: Students access the platform through a secure login, selecting pre-defined information from a dropdown menu managed by the admin.
Instructions Page: Displays test instructions set by the admin, ensuring students are well-informed before starting.
Timer and Alerts:
A countdown timer displays the remaining time for the test.
Alerts notify students at 10 and 5 minutes before the test ends.
Automatic test closure once the time limit is reached.
Test Navigation:
Students can skip questions and revisit them later.
Skipped questions are highlighted, and a dedicated session is provided to address them.
Previous and next buttons allow students to review and change answers.
Question Types: Multiple-choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blanks, single-answer, and multiple-answer formats.
Result Calculation and Analysis:
Results are displayed immediately after test submission.
A graphical summary shows chapter-wise performance and correct answers.
Certificate Printing:
Students can print a predefined certificate with their results.
The print button is disabled after the first print to ensure proper record-keeping.
Answer Comparison:
Students can review all questions, correct answers, and their responses on a single page for learning purposes.
Copy, right-click save, and print screen functionalities are disabled to protect the question bank.
Secure encryption protocols to safeguard test data and results.
The system supports both internet and intranet environments.
Students can access the tests through a browser in either setup.
Tests are available in both English and Bengali, pre-defined by the system administrator.
Automated test creation and delivery eliminated manual processes, saving significant time and resources.
Digital security measures ensured the integrity of the testing process, reducing risks of unauthorized access or question leaks.
Immediate scoring and graphical result representation provided students with timely feedback, improving learning outcomes.
Intuitive navigation, multilingual support, and advanced features like answer comparison increased student satisfaction.
The system reduced costs associated with paper-based testing while supporting future scalability for additional users or test types.
The CBT system positioned BIPSOT as a forward-thinking institution adopting modern methodologies for peacekeeper training.
